JANICE WESTPHAL completed undergraduate studies in Vocal Music, Organ, and Mathematics at Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She earned a Masters degree in Music Education at the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee. She has also completed course work at the Milwaukee School of Engineering toward an Engineering Degree.
Since 1977 she had been a teacher of Choral Music and Mathematics at Sheboygan Falls High School in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. In 2003 she was named Teacher of the Year for the Sheboygan Falls District. In June 2011, Janice retired from the teaching profession.
She was the Music Director for the Sheboygan Theatre Company from 1999-2010 and recently for the Plymouth Arts Center and Memories Theatre in Port Washington. Janice was a church organist for over 25 years and has performed in local organ and voice recitals.
In 1989 Janice began singing with the women's barbershop chorus Sound Celebration and has been their director since 1990. In November 2016 the chorus will compete at the Harmony, Inc. International Contest in Providence, Rhode Island. She has sung in competing quartets with the most recent quartet By Design. The quartet performs for community events and on Sound Celebration's annual show.
Janice is a voice coach.
Marianne Cooke has been a member of Harmony, Inc. since 1988. She joined Sound Celebration in 1989 after moving to Fond du Lac. She is also the Bass Section Leader and currently chorus President. Marianne served on the Board of Directors of Harmony, Inc. for 6 years and is currently on the International Convention Team where she is the Contest and Stage Manager. She has been in competing quartets for over 25 years and currently sings with By Design quartet. She retired in 2004 after working for over 30 years for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
